How are acupuncturists educated?

Acupuncturists must complete three to four years of extensive and comprehensive graduate training. To become certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), you must graduate from a program accredited by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCOAM). In New York State, acupuncturists are then required to complete the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine’s (NCCAOM) Acupuncture with Point Location exam and Foundations of Oriental Medicine exam.
